Hiking
From the Hotel CESTA GRAND up to the Gastein alpine huts
The rush of the Gastein Ache, birds tweeting and the lush green bottom of the valley, surrounded by the Gastein mountains’ summits: a paradise for hiking enthusiasts.
350 km of hiking paths on alpine and high alpine terrain as well as various walks and promenades invite you to lovely strolls, long hikes and challenging mountain tours.
After a hike to the pastures you will be peckish enough to enjoy cheese, butter, bacon, bread and various other specialties in a sociable atmosphere. Why not help baking the bread with your own hands – that will make it taste twice as delicious!
Combine your hike in the Gastein valley with a visit to one of the many Gastein alpine huts: Hikers and alpinists like families with children will find 55 managed mountain huts to choose from.
Get up to the summit of the Stubnerkogel near Bad Gastein and enjoy breath-taking views of Bad Gastein and its surrounding mountain peaks! A 140 m long and just one metre wide suspension bridge, the Panorama platform Glocknerblick and the Rock Trail.
Some of the trees in the Swiss pine forest on the Graukogel are nearly 400 years old. The natural environment, the pureness and the unique features are the most important things here. Enjoy a walk through the Gastein Swiss pine enchantment, which will stimulate all your senses. The theme path leads you about 45 minutes through the forest with features like the Swiss pine bed, a Swiss pine swing or snack bench.
Up on the Schlossalm you will find mythical rock animals, 6 climbing tracks for the whole family. If you choose to you may traverse the mountain with mountain carts or monster rollers. The children’s playground on the Schlossalm provides varied opportunities for gymnastics and romping around.
Water, Earth and wind, those elements play a major role in the leisure offerings of the Fulseck. The hike to the mirror lakes is only one of many different thematic trails that you can explore. The “Wackelsteig” is always a challenge for small and big children.
The “Gastein Exercise Area” has created 11 perfectly signposted trails with a total length of 120 km through Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein and Dorfgastein: a true fitness paradise for the active guests!
There are routes for beginners and also more challenging trails with unique features – this way every activity, walking, Nordic Walking or running, is a diversified experience.
